Ah, try "sb-conf install -e" to install some support files into /etc.
and "sb-conf install -d" if you haven't already.

You might also need an /etc/hosts or /etc/resolv.conf  (inside 
scratchbox HOST target) to make it work.

Sounds like resolv.conf, actually:
