Fix /scratchbox/etc/resolv.conf or /scratchbox/etc/nsswitch.conf.
most likely if you have a recent distro, there is

hosts:          files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns mdns4

line in nsswitch.conf, while inside sbox there is no mdns4 support.
change that to

hosts: files dns
